My very rare limited edition ‘Williams Team Oris’ watch (sponsors of Williams) I received this as a 25 year long service award in 2008  The Model No. is 7587-72 Serial No. 26-65165

I’ve rarely worn it, apart from a few holidays, and it’s been to a few Goodwood Festival of Speed meets, and on a visit to the Williams facility, where I parked up in my Elise, the chap at the entrance said they were going to ban me from going in, until I showed him what I was wearing on my wrist!

It gets a lot of notice from people in the know, and It’s been handed around for everyone to admire the inner workings of the self wind mechanism!

I’m a retired instrument maker, used to machining on lathes with drills as small as 0.010” for air flow in wind tunnel test models, and I just can’t believe the quality of the workmanship inside! It’s amazing how they can sell them for the price they were!

I was with my wife in London looking for a watch (my firms directors had asked her to secretly sort something for me) and looked at all of the Tag Heure, Rolex, Patek Phillipe, Omega, and decided I wanted a Tag Heure Steve Mcqueen replica, then spotted this on a poster in the underground, we went round a couple of times on the escalator to look at it, just to make sure it did have a carbon fibre face, built in stopwatch and titanium strap, my mind was made up! It’s not as bulky as the Tag, and because of the titanium case, not as heavy, and really comfortable to wear.

It comes with all of the original packaging, the unique ‘Tyre’ container, the titanium strap is adjustable as you’ll see, and I took 2 of the links out to make it more comfortable on my wrist.

The only slight defect is a couple of very slight marks on the buckle, which I’ve tried to show, but they really are insignificant.

My reason for selling it is that I now have a permanently dislocated thumb on my left hand, and with the onset of osteoperosis as well, sadly I can’t wear it any more

Oris don’t make them any more, it was a very limited production run and mine was one of the last, my works directors didn’t exactly appreciate the price, which was getting on for 3K in 2008, but they decided it was okay realising that they would have retired before anyone else had worked there for 25 years! When I left the Royal Aircraft Establishment in Thurleigh Beds. and joined the firm there were 2 directors and 3 staff, I had helped build the firm up to 40 permanent staff by the time I retired at 37 years service.

I’ve included pics of it working with the second hand and stopwatch running, it’s a self wind mechanism, with a conventional winder knob as well. The date needs to be adjusted for a 30 day one or obviously Feb.

Also with it are the 2 links taken out of the strap, as when I wore it I decided to have a bit of the bulk taken out. It does adjust in small increments as is, the extra links are for larger adjustments.
