This is my 1991 Elan which I acquired in 2019 and have had serviced annually by leading Lotus specialist GST Performance - it was Gerald Turner's personal car. It is believed to be one of, if not the, highest mileage 'working' Elan in the world. It has a complete service history with 47 stamps in the owners manual, the last 30, from 2007, by GST. The bodywork shows its age/mileage with stone rash, a couple of scrapes on the bumpers and some peeling paint lacquer at the rear but it is still reasonably presentable. The soft top screen is milky and could do with changing but there are no rips or tears to the hood and I tend use the wing mirrors. It has the desirable S2 wheels which have recently been refurbished and are shod with good Michelin tyres. A quick car that is mechanically in good condition. Lotus Exige 410/420/430 Catalytic Converters and Y Pipe in great condition. Removed from my 7,000 mile car when upgraded.

Perfect as a replacement for worn parts, or as an upgrade for earlier 350/380 models.

I am sure some on this group will know me, Andrew Goater, regarding PG1 gearbox building. Over the last 10 or more years, I have supplied numerous B4BP close ratio gearboxes for Lotus cars on this group.

For racing the B4BP is too long gears. In a similar way that Lotus have their own UCR gear in the 340R cars, I have had custom made a 3 gear (6 sprocket) kit which uses the original C ratio gears 1 and 2 but a very close ratio 3, 4 and 5. The intention is you only use 1st gear off the line and 2 to 5 are very close. It fits a C6BP 3.9 final drive box and on 16" wheels gives a top speed of 125mph. If you use bigger wheels or your engine revs more than 7500rpm a 4.2 final drive can be used.

The gears are helical and are the same tooth design as the original gears. So, unlike using straight cut, these are quiet.
