2009 VW Golf 1.6 TDi SE.

3 owner car – 1st owner (for 3 years) a colleague of mine (under a work lease scheme).  2nd owner, me (2012-2024).  3rd owner, a friend of mine to whom I sold the car back in June 2024.  I’m advertising the car on behalf of them, as they have decided to instead lease a car.  This golf will be available in approx 3 weeks time.

Mileage is 104,000, backed up by MOT history.

Good points:

• Small number of known, careful owners (me for most of its life).
• “Low” mileage for age.
• Bodywork and paint generally in good condition – the car has been well looked after and cared for.
• Interior in really good condition and clean, with no major damage.
• A fairly decent service history, last serviced early June 2025.
• Approx. 7 months of MOT remaining (expires June 2026).
• Road tax is very cheap – just £40 or so per year!
• Pretty cheap to insure.
• Car has a decent stereo – radio and CD.

Less good points:

• As with most golfs of this age with the diamond cut wheels, the wheels have the usual “milking” and are quite unsightly.  I suppose they could be refurbed for around £2-300.
• 1 small area of paint loss below rear tail light (occurred when car jet washed).
• These cars don’t like doing short journeys only (it has the DFP filter and EGR valve, the latter replaced a few years back), so would not be suited to somebody only taking it on short runs.  Too many short runs result in particulate clogging with the related minor shaking and fumes etc., resolved by a good long run.
• Early in its life, the car was jacked up incorrectly, resulting in a small minor dent in one of the sills – it’s not structural and not particularly noticeable.

This is a decent, solid little motor, with a few honest imperfections outlined above.  Equivalent cars seem to go for around £2,500 – £3,000 at traders, so I think this is a fair asking price and provides a buffer vs a trader’s price to reflect that it does not come with a warranty.  Sensible offers will be considered.  Pics taken before the car has been washed so again, an honest reflection.
