For sale, Lotus Elise 111S in Nautilus Blue. 59,000 miles £18,500
I’ve owned this car since August 2012 and I’m the third owner. Lotus owned it for the first year and it was a press/managers car, I bought it direct from the 2nd owner who bought the car in 2001.
The 111S is considered by many to be the best variant of the series one Elise having the more powerful Rover VVC K series engine, close ratio gearbox, uprated suspension and wider wheels and tyres plus various other cosmetic differences.
Its always been garaged since I’ve owned it and the same for the previous owner and the fantastic condition reflects this. As its an ex Lotus car its been through the factory workshops and had some minor tweeks carried out and the result is I’ve never had a seized bolt in this car as you’ll find in every other Elise.
I’ve maintained this car regardless of cost and replaced parts to bring the car back to new and not when they’ve worn out, the result being this car is a close as you can get to a mechanically new car.
Starting at the front of the car the following parts have been replaced:-
Stainless steel tow bracket
New original Headlights
New anti roll bar and bushes replaced last year (12 miles since fitted)
Radiator replaced with an all aluminium radiator and a new fan fitted at the same time
Heater matrix replaced with an original new old stock part.
Steering rack replaced at 25,000 miles
EBC braked discs fitted with Mintex M1144 pads all round (pads replaced less than 1000 miles ago)
New original old stock wheels fitted with Yokohama tyres
Braded brake hoses
Full suspension refresh with new bolts, bushes, ball joints and wheel bearings
Elise parts throttle linkage
New original Nardi steering wheel
Boot release cable
Gearbox overhauled with new oil seals and steel caged bearings
Engine fully rebuilt with all new parts, original engine block to retain engine number and original crank. everything else is new including a complete new VVC 160bhp cylinder head.
New clutch, water pump, oil pump, engine wiring harness, Header tank, engine mount with uprated Elise parts adjustable lower engine mount, new exhaust including catalytic converter, Aluminium 48mm Throttle body (replaced the standard sticky plastic original)
Elise parts nylatron gear linkage bushes
Full rear suspension refresh, bushes, ball joints, upgraded toe links, wheel bearings etc.
Lotus Sport Suspension fitted, this was fitted last year after I found a very low mileage original set of dampers and springs. this was an option when new and is the same as fitted to the 340R and Exige.
New fog light and reverse light.
There’s a lot more I’ve not mentioned but the since the engine and gearbox overhaul the cars only done 3,500 miles.
I’ve only ever used the car as an occasional weekend car and I’ve never taken it on a race track.
The car has never had an accident and all the bodypanels and paint are original, the front has the usual Elise stone chips and the drivers seat bolster has slightly worn through. It was like this when I bought it and its never bothered me. It comes with the original blue softop and amazingly even after 26 years, the front plastic strip has not broken.
I have a factory original hardtop in excellent condition available by separate negotiation.
The car is available to view near Ross-on-Wye
