Original generation E53 X5 with the 4.8l V8 engine.
Well maintained over the years and has been in the family for about 20 years or so. Was originally bought for my dad but has been used and maintained by me for the last 4 or so years. Serviced annually (even though it covers only about 3000 miles a year) rather than by the indicator on the dash.
In the last 2 years or so it has also had
- New fuel pump
- New pads and discs all around (brembo) and fluid change
- New front suspension air bags (both sides)
- Two new rear tyres going onto the car on Monday
- Just serviced again last week and wheel alignment done
Its mostly original but the original mats went walkies at some point and has some (more practical) rubber aftermarket mats in it. The original CD player has been replaced with a bluetooth adapter instead so you can stream music from your phone. The original amplifier has been uprated with better ICs to improve the sounds quality and all the original speakers were replaced with Focal units (in the original locations and even using the original mounts so you can’t tell unless you take the door cards off and pull the speakers out). I’ve added a 10” shallow depth bass driver in the boot where the original sub unit would have been if it had been specced with it (it was not).
Oh and the I had the steering wheel retrimmed because it was really shiny and slippery but I had it done in alcantara instead of leather. Personally i think that’s much nicer but I guess its not very OEM.
The nav/entertainment screen is also original and has a lot of dead pixels but is just about usable still. I considered replacing it but doing so tends to lose all the OBD functions without some serious hackery or installing the non screen version of a head unit so I thought better of it in the end.
It is however a twenty five year old car at this point. The wheels are all kerbed and could do with a refurb I guess. The front end has a few small stone chips. Aside from that though the paintwork is in rather good condition. Its been a while since I gave it a proper full detail, probably about a year ago so the lite ceramic could do with being replaced at this point.
The tyres on it (when I took it from my dad) were ditchfinders but new. The rears need replacing and it is booked in on Monday for two new rears. The fronts still have a lot of tread but its still running some random brand i’ve never heard of.
I have a set of winter wheels (see other listing), roof bars (currently on the car) and a large Thule roof box which I can include by negotiation.
Private plate is not included and will be removed from the car soon.
Pricing this is a bit awkward. They seem to be anywhere from 8 to 12k on AT but Motorway and WBAC offer me between 2 and 3k! I’ve been told by someone else who driveway deals in them they usually sell for about the 5 to 6k mark so I’ve priced it as such rather than the optimistic AT prices.
I have a more pictures I can share.
