Lotus S1 111s
Here is my Elise in an almost original unmolested condition: almost original as it has things like a replacement alloy rad, and S2 suspension.
It has 53k on the clock and i’ve owned the car since mid-2016. I bought it originally back in 2002, almost 14 years to the day since I bought it back. In the interim it was owned by a chap who, unfortunately, had an aneurysm and lost his licence. I did not hesitate in buying it back.
In the last four years (c3,000 miles) it’s been maintained at Allon White in Cranfield. I’ve had some trim work done (RHS bolster and renovated hood); some mechanical work done (suspension re-fresh, braided brake hoses, quick rack, cam-belt and new bearings all ’round) and some general wear and tear items (services : 2017 – C, 2018 – A, 2019- A, front pads, new Yokos all ’round). Allon White love the car, and have taken good care of it. I’m sure they would be happy to talk a prospective buyer through its provenance (and I have all the receipts for work). They have also offered to do a commission sale for me.
My intention was to keep this forever, and I may do unless the price is right. But unfortunately i’ve got rather poor health. I did a 500 mile road trip this weekend and realised that my joints (arthritis) can’t cope with getting in and out of the car with the roof on, and the seats on the long journey.
The car comes with some bits and bobs i’ve kept stored in the loft (original Lotus hard top in primer in original Lotus bag, brand new rear wheels, CV joints, original technical manual, handbook, brand new oem steering wheel, original stereo and CD changer, stereo blanking kit). And it also comes with the best Lotus personal plate. Ideally i’d like to sell all these with the car, but I will retain them if the selling price is reasonable for only the car.
The car itself is by no means perfect – it has some small scratches here and there, which add to the character. Nothing major, and the paint polishes-up well. Some minor wear to the driver’s seat which could be re-died. And it also flattens the battery with the alarm on (but not the immobiliser) – it has a brand new battery. But it has been well-loved, and well cared for. I know it has never been near a track. And I know it’s only ever been kept in a garage (I sold it the first time as I moved and didn’t have a garage in the new place). Since posting this advert I’ve had lots of requests for pictures – I have loads and can email them on request.
The car is due a service and MOT in May – I’ll get both done at Allon White for the buyer before collection if they so wish.
So PM me if you’re interested.
